About Me

I first discovered photography during my first year of community college. My father had given me his 1985 Canon T80 35mm SLR camera. I didn't know where to start or how to use it. I decided to take a photography class and quickly learned how to use the camera to capture still life objects in natural light and develop my own film in a dark room. Time just seemed to stop every time I was busy working in the dark room or when I was behind the lens. I knew I had found my passion.

After leaving the community college I was given two options: Attend the University Of Southern Maine (USM) in Portland, Maine and pursue a Business degree in Marketing or attend Boston University's Center for Digital Imaging Arts (BUCDIA) and pursue a photography career. I ultimately chose to attend USM in Portland to pursue Marketing.

My time spent in Portland, Maine was the best opportunity I ever enjoyed. Not only did I enjoy the college experience there but it's also where I met my husband, Chris, who was a United States Navy P-3C pilot stationed in Brunswick, Maine. During my time in Portland, I continued to capture beautiful landscape scenes on Maine's picturesque southern coast. This is where I found my love for landscape photography.

Photography has always been my hobby until my first niece was born in 2010. I fell in love with portraiture photography. I began taking pictures of her as a baby and continued as she grew up. From those pictures and by word of mouth, I began to shoot a variety of events including birthday parties, engagements, weddings and ballet recitals. I had been given the wonderful opportunity to shadow and assist a local Southern Maryland photographer. With her guidance, I have learned so many new techniques and new ways to improve my photographs.

I now live in Scarborough, Maine with my husband Chris and our daughter Emmaline. When I'm not behind my camera we are busy exploring new places, going to the beach, skating and hitting the mountain in the winter.

I look forward to improving my skills every day and to continue to capture the beautiful things in life. Thank you for the opportunity to capture your special moments!

“I've used Amanda for both my company photos and personal family photos. She has a keen eye for capturing and editing images. Not just generally, but for the purpose for which they're intended. She took into account the color scheme of my website, and matched the photos so they looked natural. Most importantly, she's easy to work with, flexible, reasonably priced, and keeps her scheduled commitments. Highly recommend and will use her services again!”
